Man City ‘to bid £100m plus Grealish’ to re-sign Morgan Rogers in transfer shock

Manchester City could pull out all the stops to re-sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa this summer.

Rogers has been one of Villa’s top performers this season.

The 22-year-old blew Rio Ferdinand away as Aston Villa were beaten 3-1 by Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-eight tie at Parc des Princes on Wednesday (9 April).

However, Rogers’ excellent performances could cause a problem for Unai Emery, as Manchester City are now expected to make a very tempting offer to bring the Englishman back to the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City ‘could make record offer’ to re-sign Rogers

Ahead of the second-leg against PSG at Villa Park on Tuesday (15 April), Rogers has sent a message which demonstrates his mentality.

It is this mindset and the playmaker’s form this season, which have resulted in him generating some “big admirers” ahead of the summer transfer window [The Athletic].

Rogers is one of the most important players at Aston Villa

And ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes a huge offer could be on the table from City, which would see Grealish return to the West Midlands.

“It will be a record if Rogers goes,” King said.

“Look at how much money they got for Grealish. Villa will be wanting more than £100million for Rogers. He was the outstanding player at the start of the season for me, and I was pushing for him to be picked for the senior England team.

“He was initially picked for the Under-21s, which I think was wrong. However, now he is a central part of the England team, and he has certainly produced performances to create interest, I would imagine, from all the top clubs in Europe. He’d be a perfect replacement for Kevin De Bruyne at Manchester City.

“That is a top player leaving the club this year after great service, and if I were Man City, I’d say to Aston Villa, ‘You can have Grealish back, and we will give you £100m for Rogers.’ That would certainly unnerve Aston Villa, I think, if a figure like that comes in, and they’d be getting a Villa hero back.”

Villa could struggle to keep hold of Rogers

Emery has worked wonders at Aston Villa. The Villans have made it to the last eight of the Champions League, as well as the semi-finals of the FA Cup, and are still competing for a top-five finish in the Premier League.

However, with that success comes interest in their top performers, such as Rogers. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what kind of offers are made and whether Villa can keep hold of their star players.
