Darren Bent shocks talkSPORT host with Arsenal and Aston Villa comment – ‘Wow’
Darren Bent has provided a surprising outlook on the next round of the Champions League for Aston Villa and Arsenal.
The Gunners have put one foot into the semi-final by defeating Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of their quarter finals, ensuring they head to Spain for the second leg in a commanding position.
Villa are in a slightly trickier situation as they are currently 3-1 down following their first leg match against PSG, leaving them with a mountain to climb.
Morgan Rogers had given his team the lead in Paris, but Unai Emery’s men were unable to hang onto the result and ultimately were comfortably beaten on the day.
PSG were impressive on the night, just as they were in the previous round when they knocked out Liverpool, which has helped to make them one of the favourites in the competition this season.

Bent makes a major Arsenal confession
PSG are being seen as a team to avoid for most football fans with teams remaining in Europe’s elite competition, and that includes Arsenal supporters.
The Gunners will face the winners of PSG and Villa if they are able to get past a trip to Spain, as they face Madrid in the second leg.

Arsenal fans are hoping to play against Villa in the Champions League semi-final as they’re seen as the weaker team and have the least experience in Europe, but Bent disagrees.
On talkSPORT, the Arsenal supporter claimed he’d rather Arsenal face PSG, saying: “It’s just the unknown.
“We play Aston Villa every single season. As in, fair — in the last couple of seasons, Villa have had Arsenal’s number.”
The response left his co-host Andy Goldstein shocked as he said: “Wow, so arrogant, you are.”
Aston Villa will need to make significant improvements
The Villans have had an impressive 2024-25 campaign under Emery, and are currently competing for silverware in two different competitions while pushing for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
It has been a brilliant campaign as Emery continues to drive the club forward, but the fixture against PSG might just be a step too far for his side.
They were outclassed in the away leg, and that is going to put a lot of pressure on the team to produce something special, in a match that is sure to have a special atmosphere.
