Disasi in ‘absolutely ridiculous’ incident v PSG, McCoist and Ferdinand lose it

Axel Disasi had a nightmare cameo in Aston Villa’s 3-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The Villans had taken the lead from a Morgan Rogers strike on 9 April but Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nuno Mendes ensured that the Parisians head into the second leg with the comfortable advantage.

Unai Emery‘s side will have a difficult task to overturn the deficit at Villa Park and Disasi has not done his chances of starting any favours with his performance in the French capital.

Disasi struggles as Villa lose in Paris

Disasi replaced Matty Cash at half-time at the Parc des Princes as Emery tried to solidify his defence after Doue had exploited it to equalise.

However, the substitution proved to be a disaster as the Chelsea loanee was ripped apart from Kvaratskhelia in the lead up to his goal.

Speaking on TNT Sports (9 April, 21:08 pm), Ally McCoist and Rio Ferdinand could not help but slam the Villa man for his involvement in the strike.

McCoist said: “How he finds that top corner is absolutely ridiculous, what a goal.”

Ferdinand responded: “Ally, the studs roll, he takes Disasi out, Disasi left the building, it was always going to be a tough task a centre-back playing right-back against someone with the hips like Waddle and then the finish wow, devastating.”

Aston Villa cannot start Disasi in return leg

Emery cannot afford to make any mistakes from a tactical perspective if Villa are to somehow turn it around on home soil in the return leg.

Therefore, he cannot afford to start Disasi as he constantly looked shaky against the elite wingers that the Parisians have in their arsenal and would not inspire confidence if he was included in the line-up next week.

It could still be a historic season for the Villans even if they are eliminated, as they are in the FA Cup semi-final and have a chance to win the competition for the first time since the 1965-57 season if they can down Crystal Palace on 26 April at Wembley.

They can also secure a second successive Champions League berth in the Premier League by finishing in the top five, which is a realistic prospect if other teams around them drop points after looking unlikely just a few weeks ago.

Disasi should remain on the fringes if Villa want to achieve success, he is not good enough to help the Villans turn their season around and make it successful.
