Aston Villa injury news: Huge Leon Bailey update emerges
Aston Villa attacker Leon Bailey took a hard knock, which has kept him out of action, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert explains that once he gets better, there would be less pain and that would allow him to ramp up with his rehab.
The Jamaican last played for Villa in the 3-0 victory against Club Brugge on 12 March.

Bailey not expected to be ready to start the Southampton clash
After losing to PSG in the first leg of the Champions League by a 3-1 scoreline, Unai Emery’s men take on Southampton next in the Premier League.
Villa will travel to the south coast to take on the Saints at St Mary’s on Saturday, 12 April.
However, for that one, they are not expected to have Bailey ready to start and play the full game, with Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio providing more options in the final third.
Stats | Rashford | Asensio |
Matches | 12 | 11 |
Goals | 3 | 8 |
Assists | 4 | 1 |
Minutes played | 635 | 554 |
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “This sounds like he took a hard knock.
“Typically, in those cases, the concern is either a contusion, which is a bruising that causes pain and dysfunction and/or bone bruising.
“Getting better would be less pain and dysfunction that allows him to ramp up gradually.
“Even if fit, he’s not expected to start this weekend and will be eased back.“

Aston Villa could look to play Bailey against PSG
Bailey could be a game-changer for Villa in their second leg against PSG, where they face a two-goal deficit.
His explosive pace and direct dribbling can exploit PSG’s high defensive line, offering a vital counter-attacking threat.
Bailey’s ability to take on defenders in one-on-one situations could stretch PSG’s backline, creating space for teammates like Ollie Watkins or Morgan Rogers to capitalise.
His knack for delivering precise crosses and contributing to set-pieces adds an extra dimension to Villa’s attack.
Additionally, his defensive work rate, often overlooked, could help disrupt PSG’s rhythm, allowing Villa to regain possession and build momentum.
If fit and firing, Bailey’s unpredictability might just spark the comeback Villa need at Villa Park.
