Aston Villa developments to trigger further ‘Embarrassment’ at Premier League HQ
Aston Villa have entered one of the most exciting chapters in their modern history.
The West Midlands giants have won seven consecutive games across all competitions and sit just two points adrift of fourth-place Chelsea in the Premier League.
Villa enjoyed a 2-1 triumph over third-place Nottingham Forest on Saturday, further enhancing their chances of booking a Champions League spot for the second season running.
Unai Emery and Co will now turn their attentions to the Champions League quarter-finals, where they face their first leg with PSG on Wednesday.

Villa could sell women’s club to help PSR again
Aston Villa’s Premier League rivals Chelsea recently sold their women’s club to a parent company amid their efforts to comply with the top-flight’s Profit and Sustainability rules, and Villa are now considering following in the Blues’ footsteps.
Mike Keegan wrote in the Daily Mail [pg 59, 7 April] that the move “could trigger further headaches and embarrassment at Premier League HQ.”

Emery has a chance to etch himself into the Villa history books
Emery already has a deservedly strong reputation among the Villa faithful, having guided his side to a Champions League spot last season.
Opponent | Result |
Club Brugge (H) | 3-0 W |
Preston (A) | 0-3 W |
Brighton (A) | 0-3 W |
Nottingham Forest | 2-1 W |
However, the West Midlands club are still yet to win a major trophy since their League Cup triumph back in 1996.
But Emery has a major opportunity to create a historical chapter of his own at Villa Park, as the men in claret and blue have reached the FA Cup semi-finals, where they will face Crystal Palace at Wembley on 26 April.
Should Villa progress past Palace in the semi-finals, they would meet either Nottingham Forest or Manchester City in May’s final.
Emery’s men have beaten both Forest and Man City already this season, so they would fancy their chances of winning the FA Cup if they reach the final.
Furthermore, if Villa enjoy a seemingly unlikely quarter-final triumph over PSG, then they cannot be ruled out of Champions League contention.
Let’s hope that it all helps avoid PSR trouble.
