Aston Villa ‘to face punishment’ as 31 March financial paperwork deadline missed

Aston Villa have missed a financial deadline of 31 March to avoid a law violation at Villa Park.

Since the introduction of Nassef Sawriris and Wes Edens, the Villans haven’t been forced to deal with many financial issues in B6.

Unai Emery did have to contend with PSR problems in the most recent summer window but the issues haven’t been reflected on the pitch.

With that being said, issues could be on the horizon in the near future after a 31 March deadline was missed.

The success on the pitch at Villa Park has been done thanks, in part, to the work of Monchi off the pitch in his role as president of football operations.

Sawiris and Edens have also put their money where their mouth is to help grow the club and avoid any financial problems in their seven years at the helm.

This has seen the net worth of the Villans skyrocket while a project to increase the size of the B6 club’s footprint around Villa Park and across the world under Chris Heck’s watch.

All the successes on and off the pitch could be set to take a hit if a financial punishment is faced in the coming weeks in the West Midlands.

Companies House set a deadline of 31 March to share their accounts for the period up to 30 June 2024, with Villa’s last accounts only made up to 31 May 2023.

The NSWE UK LIMITED holding company, registered to Villa Park, Trinity Road, has missed the 31 March deadline, which could end in a fine or the company being struck off the register.

Aston Villa could face financial punishment

The Villans will be hugely keen to avoid any sort of fine, given how much they have struggled with PSR in the past 12 months.

This won’t go down well with the Premier League who have shown a strictness with the likes of Everton and Nottingham Forest.

It will be interesting to see how Villa will get around these issues and whether it will impact them under Emery before the end of the campaign.

Monchi will want to work with as much money as possible in the summer as he looks to conduct business like he did in the winter with Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford.
