Grealish set for Man City exit after Guardiola blunder amid Aston Villa rumours

Jack Grealish joined Manchester City from Aston Villa for a British-record fee four years ago, but his move has not panned out as expected.

Grealish was an incredible performer for Aston Villa, particularly in his final season, and he earned the club £100m of pure profit from a homegrown player as he departed.

Although the Englishman has won several titles, as well as the Champions League, his time at Man City has been a difficult one, as he is now struggling for consistent game time.

It now appears that City are ready to part ways with the 29-year-old in the summer, but City manager Pep Guardiola has now been blamed for Grealish’s downturn in form.

Jack Grealish ‘nailed on’ for Man City exit

With City enduring a disappointing season after winning the last four Premier League titles, they look set to clear out several first-team players, and Grealish now appears headed for the exit door.

“I think it’s nailed on that he’s going to leave now,” former Watford striker Troy Deeney told talkSPORT.

“I’ve said this before, I think Pep Guardiola’s one of the best coaches we’ve ever seen. But I don’t think he’s handled the Jack Grealish or Kevin De Bruyne situation well this year at all.

“I think he’s left them in the cold. He [Grealish] will have to leave.”

Grealish went over a year without scoring or assisting a single goal for City, and has now fallen down the pecking order, but has been linked with a sensational return to Villa.

Could Jack Grealish return to Aston Villa?

A shock return to Aston Villa could be on the cards for Grealish this summer. He may be available at a cut price, with just a year remaining on his contract, and he is clearly out of favour at the Etihad Stadium.

It remains to be seen whether Unai Emery would want Grealish in his squad.

Whilst he has been far from his best for some time, the improved form of Marcus Rashford, and the revival of Marco Asensio may show that there is a route to redemption for Grealish.

Grealish has been given mixed receptions by Villa fans when featuring against his old club, but should he return to Villa Park, he would arrive with a point to prove rather than simply joining for an emotional homecoming.
