Jhon Duran sends message to Ezri Konsa after what Aston Villa star did

Aston Villa ace Ezri Konsa starred in central defence for England as the Three Lions claimed a 2-0 victory over Albania.

New England boss Thomas Tuchel enjoyed a winning start to life in the Wembley dugout, while the Villa faithful can be proud that both Konsa and Marcus Rashford were named in his first starting 11.

Morgan Rogers was introduced to the action in the second half, meaning that a Villa trio were involved on a winning night for the Three Lions.

Konsa, Rashford and Rogers will all hope to be involved once more when Tuchel’s men host Latvia on Monday night.

Jhon Duran responds as Konsa shared an England message

Konsa impressed in central defence for England and helped ensure that debutants Dan Burn and Miles Lewis-Skelly had a comfortable evening in the backline.

After the Three Lions’ victory, the Villa defender wrote on Instagram: “Start as we mean to go on.”

His former club teammate Jhon Duran was among those to show appreciation for Konsa’s performance as he commented with two heart-eye emojis followed by a heart.

The defender’s England colleagues Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham also left heart emojis in the comments section.

Konsa could become an England regular

Konsa has long since impressed the Villa faithful, having made over 220 appearances for the club since arriving in the West Midlands from Brentford back in 2019.

But he has still made just 10 senior appearances for England, while former boss Gareth Southgate favoured Marc Guehi over the Villa man during last summer’s Euros.

However, when Konsa was called upon when Guehi was suspended in the tournament last summer, he performed well as England beat Switzerland in the quarter-finals.

Now that England are under the stewardship of new boss Tuchel, Konsa has an opportunity to stake his claim as one of the Three Lions’ starting defenders ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

He certainly did his international credentials no harm on Friday at Wembley, when he helped ensure that the Albania frontline were not able to threaten Jordan Pickford’s goal.

It seems likely that Konsa will ply his trade for England once more on Monday, when Tuchel and Co welcome Latvia.
