Marcus Rashford ‘convinces’ Manchester United to hire Emery from Aston Villa

Marcus Rashford has shown Manchester United enough to persuade them to hire Unai Emery from Aston Villa as their next manager.

Manchester United roped in Ruben Amorim from Sporting CP in November, hoping to put the disappointment of their performances under Erik ten Hag behind them.

However, the move has not gone according to plan for the Old Trafford outfit as they sit 13th in the Premier League with nine games left to play.

That is why there are doubts about Amorim’s future as the Red Devils’ manager already despite only arriving five months ago.

Manchester United to turn to Emery at Aston Villa

Hiring highly-rated managers from abroad in the shape of Ten Hag and Amorim has not worked out for Manchester United, who might now turn to a proven Premier League tactician like Emery.

The Premier League giants are reportedly considering the Spaniard as a replacement for Amorim, with the issue brewing as a “hot topic” already.

Rashford may have now convinced United to appoint Emery as their next boss after what he has done at Aston Villa since joining them in February.

The attacker fell out of favour under Amorim earlier this season and many considered him to be a lost cause at Old Trafford.

The fact that Manchester United were happy to let him join a direct rival on loan with an option to make the move permanent for £40million tells you everything about how they view him now.

However, it has taken Rashford just over a month under Emery to get his career back on track, with his performances being rewarded with a call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s first squad as the England manager.

Villa braced for Manchester United approach after Rashford twist

Pundits like Chris Sutton are not pleased to see Rashford get the nod ahead of Callum Hudson-Odoi and others, but the 27-year-old’s resurgence is a testament to Emery’s tactical acumen.

United have seen way too many talented players in their ranks fizzle out in recent years, with Rashford being only one of them.

The same is true for Jadon Sancho, who is on loan at Chelsea, while Alejandro Garnacho is heading a similar trajectory.

What the Red Devils may need is a manager like Emery, who can tap into each individual’s potential and get the best out of them, as he has proved with Rashford at Aston Villa.

If Sir Jim Ratcliffe is paying attention, he will surely be convinced to push the board to give Emery the reins in Manchester.
