Aston Villa Champions League qualification predicted by supercomputer after win

Aston Villa picked up a huge 1-0 win over Brentford in their chase for a second successive season in the Champions League.

The Villans are just two points behind the Premier League top four after Ollie Watkins’ strike secured all three points in London against his former club.

However, they have played an extra match than their rivals for the qualification places and will face a tough task in achieving their ambitions.

Aston Villa will struggle to qualify for Champions League

Unai Emery’s side needs an unprecedented amount of luck to qualify for the Champions League next season despite the win over the Bees, according to a new prediction.

The Opta Analyst supercomputer predicts that the Villans will finish ninth with just a 2.75 per cent chance to finish in the top four.

It also states that they have just a 4.35 per cent to qualify for the Europa League in a dismal update for the Villa Park faithful.

Emery needs to keep pushing

Despite the supercomputer’s glum prediction, Emery needs to keep his players focused on finishing the season as strongly as possible in the hopes of achieving their goals.

If Villa can go on a winning run in their final nine matches, who knows what might happen, the clubs around them may crumble under the pressure.

The race for top four.

It is a tall order though, as Manchester City, Chelsea, and Brighton are all ahead of the B6 outfit and would all have to drop off with the season grinding to a close and the likes of Newcastle, Bournemouth, and Fulham are all within three points with a game in hand.

Their only other route to Europe’s premier competition is by winning this year’s edition, which seems unlikely given the fact that either Liverpool or Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Arsenal are in their side of the draw.

Emery will regret the recent run of just one win in eight Premier League matches that has put his side in this position and regardless of what is at stake, that form needs to improve and it likely will but whether that is enough remains to be seen.
