Manchester United bombshell as Unai Emery ‘to replace Ruben Amorim’

Unai Emery could be set to leave Aston Villa after huge news in the Premier League.

Since Emery’s arrival at Villa Park, the West Midlands outfit have returned to the Champions League and are flying high domestically again.

Manchester United are at the complete opposite end of that scale, with the nightmare only growing at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim, despite his big-money appointment.

Manchester United ready Emery appointment

Emery’s work at Villa Park has rightfully earned him praise, but it could lead to the Spaniard being poached by clubs around them.

According to Sebastien Vidal, Manchester United are one of those teams.

The journalist reports on 4 March that the Red Devils are considering Emery as a replacement for Amorim, with a “hot topic” brewing already.

With nine points and four places separating the sides, it’s no surprise that the Manchester giants are looking up the table to see who could save them.

Emery has no reason to leave Aston Villa

It’s no surprise there is interest in Emery from elsewhere, especially a team like Manchester United who are having a terrible season.

However, there wouldn’t really be any incentive for the Villa boss to make a move at this stage.

Although league form may have dropped off, the Villans are still in the Champions League and have also progressed through another round of the FA Cup, making silverware a real possibility.

The Red Devils, on the other hand, are not in either competition and may have no chance of European football next term, making it a less competitive role.

Not just that, but the management from above at United is seemingly in a dire state and until something changes at the top, the story could be the same regardless of the manager in charge.

Things are stable at Villa Park and it seems unlikely that either NSWE or Emery would be willing to throw that away at this point.
