Aston Villa in PSR nightmare as expert shares unofficial deadline to watch
Aston Villa may have just been given a warning shot by the Premier League after new PSR developments emerged, Dan Plumley says.
It was suggested that the regulations staying in place for another year is a “nightmare” for Villa, who have been outspoken against the current regime.
The Premier League only recently cleared all of its clubs from any charges, including the Villans, a year after both Everton and Nottingham Forest were given points deductions.

PSR nightmare deadline given to Aston Villa
Plumley believes that it will be interesting to see if the Premier League charges any clubs after the regulations were extended, or if it is just a warning ahead of time.
The football finance expert admitted that transfer movement around June 30 is once again likely, with Villa heavily involved around that date in 2024.
“This is going to be a really interesting one,” Plumley exclusively told Villa News.
“The one-year extension to PSR, we thought it might finish sooner, but it’s going to be in place for one more year.
“We haven’t seen the 2024 numbers for Aston Villa yet, but there was the big loss in 2023 that people are looking at, it will be interesting to see if any clubs get charged in the next year.
“We’ve just come off the back of a period where no clubs have been charged very recently, the Premier League are happy that all the conditions have been met for all clubs, so that gives some confidence that everybody is relatively okay at this point.
“Of course, Villa have just sold Duran for a significant amount of money, there is the Rashford wages and other things wrapped up within that.

Aston Villa set for unofficial transfer deadline
“I guess it is one to keep an eye on, I’d be thinking, is it likely that we see any charges in the next year, or is this a warning shot to get your house in order, we’re going to have one more year and then transition to a new set of regulations.
“I still think we will see a move around in the summer, we’re going to get that June 30 unofficial transfer deadline for some of these clubs that are tight and up against it.”
Top Five Aston Villa Sales 24/25 | Cost |
Jhon Duran | £63.5m |
Moussa Diaby | £49.4m |
Douglas Luiz | £42.4m |
Jaden Philogene | £19.5m |
Cameron Archer | £14.5m |
With the likes of Omari Kellyman leaving for Chelsea too, there could be more rogue transfers that take place in the Premier League at the end of June.
For now, it is all about pushing to try and secure Champions League football and the windfall that comes with it at Aston Villa, as it starts to slowly slip away.
