Emery ‘won’t regret Jhon Duran sale at Aston Villa’ after insider development
Aston Villa and Unai Emery have to live with their decision to sell Jhon Duran.
The 21-year-old was electric for the Villans at times this campaign but went on to complete a winter switch to Al-Nassr in a deal worth £64million plus add-ons.
The Colombia international has gone on to score four in three games in the Middle East, showing his class in a new division almost immediately.
This now represents a deal that may be regretted in the short and long term regardless of the PSR boost this transfer represented to Monchi and Co.
Aston Villa won’t regret Jhon Duran sale due to attitude problems
It can’t be understated how important the ex-Chicago Fire man was for Emery’s side in the first half of the campaign in the West Midlands.
His goals in the Premier League and Champions League had a telling impact on some of the Villans’ best results of the season, with his strike against Bayern Munich taking the crown.
Despite this, it appears that his potential attitude problems and immaturity became an issue at Bodymoor Heath that won’t be missed.
Former Leicester City and Brentford manager Martin Allen isn’t moved by Duran’s form in Saudi Arabia and believes there will be no regret from Emery in B6.
“Scoring four goals in Saudi Arabia, it’s not that big of a deal,” Allen exclusively told Villa News.
“From what I’ve heard, he’s not been the greatest professional, he’s not got a great attitude. If he was a top lad, there’s no way Unai Emery would have let him go.
“There are rumours that he kicked off behind the scenes and when he was playing he had the hump.
“If you’ve got those types of players, they’re talented but they’re not quite right mentally and not positive and pulling in the right direction, you won’t want them in your club.
“There’s no way they regret selling him.“

Jhon Duran shining in Saudi Arabia after Aston Villa exit
There is no doubt that the Villa fanbase was gutted to see the young forward depart in the winter window after an excellent season.
This subsided somewhat when Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford came in on loan, with the latter met with plenty of excitement.
Regardless of this, it is regretful for supporters to see Duran scoring goals in the Pro League, proving exactly why he was worth such a sizable fee.
With Ollie Watkins struggling at points this campaign, it will be interesting to see how Emery’s side copes without the Colombian in the coming months.
