Tyrone Mings ‘to start for Aston Villa v Liverpool’ after injury news on Tuesday
Unai Emery will be forced to start centre-back Tyrone Mings against Liverpool after a crushing Aston Villa injury setback.
Liverpool will travel to Villa Park for a crucial Premier League clash on Wednesday 19 February.
Ahead of the match, Arne Slot has shared a surprise Marcus Rashford prediction. However, Emery will likely have had very little interest in what his opposing manager has had to say, and will instead be focused on his own issues.
Several of Aston Villa’s defenders are currently ruled out due to injury at the moment, and after yet another setback, it looks as though Emery will have no choice but to hand Mings a rare start in a big game.
Tyrone Mings to start for Aston Villa v Liverpool
As reported by The Athletic on Tuesday (17 February), Boubacar Kamara has been ruled out for at least two weeks with a muscular injury.
Kamara was forced off in the 16th minute of the 1-1 Premier League draw with Ipswich Town at Villa Park on Saturday (15 February), with Mings coming on to replace the Frenchman.
Therefore, ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – expects the defender to start against Liverpool on Wednesday.
“I expect that Mings will start for Villa against Liverpool,” King said.
“However, I’d be a little bit worried about him playing considering the quality Liverpool have going forward. He seems to struggle with pace, and the way Liverpool play could cause him problems.
“They have this marvellous way of going forward and I think this will be a big test for Mings.”
Boubacar Kamara a big miss for Aston Villa v Liverpool
Kamara has proven to be a key player for Emery since returning from injury. Therefore, the midfielder will be a big miss over the coming weeks, especially considering Villa’s busy schedule which has left them furious with the Premier League.
The midfielder was filling in at centre-back against Ipswich, demonstrating just how short Emery is in that department. As a result, the Spaniard will be hoping that Mings can come in and hit the ground running.

However, Mings has only played seven times in the Premier League this season and is yet to start in the competition. Therefore, this will be a big test for the 31-year-old.
