Marcus Rashford already wants to quit Aston Villa in Man United transfer shock

Aston Villa look like they have no chance of signing Marcus Rashford on a permanent basis from Manchester United in the summer, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported via their website on Saturday (14 February) that Villa have the option to buy Rashford, 27, from Old Trafford for £40million after his loan spell at Villa Park ends.

Rashford has started well since joining Unai Emery’s side on 2 February.

He came off the bench to make his debut in the 2-1 FA Cup win against Tottenham last week before following that up with a brilliant 45 minutes off the bench against Ipswich on Saturday.

However, despite his bright start, Rashford’s spell in the West Midlands looks increasingly like a flash in the pan, rather than something long-term.

Rashford to snub Aston Villa transfer to join Barcelona

The Sun has reportedly been told by a source close that Rashford wants Barcelona to sign him from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

“Marcus is confident that if he rediscovers his form at Villa Park and starts bagging goals, Barcelona will revive their interest, especially as a transfer price has been established,” said The Sun’s source.

“It’s a huge incentive for him, which is good news for Villa.

“Now he just needs to get playing and start scoring.”

Rashford came off the bench and looked extremely lively against Ipswich at Villa Park.

Ollie Watkins scored for Aston Villa after a Rashford free-kick struck the crossbar for Emery’s men to equalise against the 10 men of Ipswich, who’d earlier gone ahead via Liam Delap.

Alex Palmer’s tremendous performance in goal unfortunately stopped Rashford and co from taking all three points but there were promising signs there from the Man United loanee, who’d not played since 12 December before he made his move.

Aston Villa transfer better option for Rashford than Barcelona

Rashford has to perform well at Aston Villa in order to earn a good move away from Man United in the summer.

So far, it’s been so good for the 60-cap England international, whose career had hit the skids at Old Trafford and a move away from there was obviously needed.

Ruben Amorim doesn’t seem to fancy Rashford so as long as he’s in charge at Man United, there’s no way back for him there.

Villa will no doubt trigger that £40million option-to-buy clause in the summer transfer window – but would Rashford accept terms there?

Based on how he’s performing right now and the fact that Emery’s shown a lot of faith in him at B6, it would be better for him to stay put in the West Midlands.

Barcelona are undoubtedly a huge club that will have a massive sway over the United loanee’s future. But will they even make a move for him?

That’s the main question.
