Yasin Özcan ‘exit on the cards already’ after Aston Villa transfer announcement

Aston Villa were one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs during the winter transfer window.

Unai Emery added some high-profile players to his squad, with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio making the move to the West Midlands.

However, there was also a high-profile departure, with Jhon Duran sealing a money-spinning move to Al-Nassr. Overall though, Emery and the club’s supporters are likely to be happy with the business done by Villa.

As well as improving their current first-team options, Villa also made a signing for the future, bringing in Yasin Özcan from Süper Lig side Kasımpaşa S.K. on a pre-contract agreement.

The 18-year-old is set to join Villa in the summer. However, Özcan has been warned that he could be on his way out if he fails to live up to expectations.

Aston Villa to sanction Yasin Özcan loan exit?

According to ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – Özcan will have a lot to prove when he arrives in the West Midlands.

“This will be a straightforward deal with add-ons,” King said.

“I would imagine there might also be a sell-on clause included. This player still has plenty to prove. He’s only 18, he is coming into a new club, there will be big expectations of him, and if those expectations aren’t fulfilled he will be sent out on loan.

“He will be looked at closely and a decision will be made. If he proves to be the kind of player that Villa want, he will be kept at the club. However, if he doesn’t look like he is ready to challenge for a first-team place straightaway, then he will probably head out on loan, somewhere overseas.”

Aston Villa and Unai Emery thinking about the future

Özcan is 18 years old and certainly one for the future. However, Emery will be hoping that he can make some sort of impact on the first team right away. If he isn’t able to do that, a loan move would make sense.

It is clear that Emery is thinking about the future considering Villa’s recent transfer activity, which is a positive sign.

However, the club still need to ensure they have players ready to make an impact in the present.
