Amorim ‘fighting for his job’ at Man United as he speaks out on Rashford exit

Ruben Amorim has openly admitted that everyone at Manchester United are fighting for their jobs as he discussed Marcus Rashford’s move to Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old completed a temporary switch to Aston Villa at a late stage of the winter window after a turbulent spell with the Red Devils.

The England international has joined the Villans on a loan deal which includes an option to buy from Man United for £40m at the end of the campaign.

Despite moving away from the 13-time Premier League champions, their Portuguese head coach has still been asked questions about the forward.

Ruben Amorim takes strange Marcus Rashford stance at Man United

There was clearly a moment that damaged Rashford’s relationship with the new manager at Old Trafford beyond repair, resulting in his move to B6.

Amorim was reluctant to speak about the Carrington academy product before his move, but he has been probed about him once again.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday (6 February), the ex-Sporting boss appeared to accept he is under pressure despite only moving to the Premier League in November.

He said: “Guys, in the summer, like we said before, we are fighting for our jobs until the summer. So I’m just focused on these games.

“Thankfully, about Marcus, he’s in Birmingham now, with Unai [Emery], so you can take the questions for these months to another coach. We are focused just on our players at the moment.”

Marcus Rashford must prove the world wrong at Aston Villa

Regardless of Amorim showing disdain for the two-time FA Cup winner, the welcome he has received at Villa Park is surely encouraging.

Marcus Rashford is in desperate need of getting his head down with a view to finding his best form once again, something he hasn’t truly done since the 2022/23 campaign.

The versatile forward may see Aston Villa as a stepping stone but if he does have a move to the likes of Barcelona or PSG in his sights, his performances in the West Midlands will have to be top class.

He has to shut out the noise from the manager at Old Trafford and work to prove him wrong as he fights against getting sacked himself.

It appears that the former Braga coach is under huge pressure and also needs to focus on his team before worrying about what his former star is doing in Birmingham.
