Henry Winter moots Marcus Rashford ‘caveat’ as Aston Villa reach new agreement

Henry Winter has already suggested one main “caveat” as Aston Villa close in on a loan deal for Marcus Rashford.

According to Fabrizio Romano [2 February], Villa now have an agreement in place with Manchester United to take 70 per cent of his salary, with the deal including a buy clause worth up to £40million.

With the 27-year-old’s medical booked at Villa Park, it is just a matter of time before the signing is officially announced, but not everyone is convinced by the proposed set-up.

Responding to the news via X [2 February], Winter wrote: “One caveat: the suggestion is that Rashford will commute to Bodymoor Heath. Really, he should move away from Manchester, closer to the training ground and Villa Park.

“Rashford has to pour every minute, and every ounce of energy, into this great opportunity at Villa.”

Marcus Rashford going to put everything into Aston Villa loan deal?

It is certainly a strange set-up for the estranged forward, given how desperate he is to leave Old Trafford before the transfer window slams shut.

Finding a place somewhere near Birmingham for the next six months makes much more sense, especially if he is to make the desired impact upon arriving at Villa Park on loan.

Rashford has been desperately out of form for the past two seasons, and if he is to really show the hierarchy at Man United, he must give everything to Unai Emery this season.

There are big shoes to fill for the Villans following Jhon Duran’s exit to Saudi Arabia. The England international has the ability to fill them but actually doing it is another matter.

Clearly, there is something going on between the player and Ruben Amorim but if he can impress during his loan spell at Villa Park, he may never have to pay for the Red Devils ever again.

In other Aston Villa news, one Villa Park star will surely be packing his bags following the latest transfer update.
