Gary Lineker reacts to Morgan Rogers controversy in Aston Villa loss v Wolves

Gary Lineker believes Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers was fouled in the build-up to Wolves’ second goal.

The Old Gold secured all three points on Saturday (1 February) as a late strike from Matheus Cunha made it 2-0 at Molineux.

After the controversy of Donyell Malen’s chalked-off equaliser, there were calls for the Brazilian’s strike to be ruled out for a could on the England international in the build-up.

Despite not being given, Lineker felt that this was another decision that went against the Villans on Match of the Day (1 February).

Former Villa defender Martin Keown said: “They win it back and look at this movement.”

Lineker butted in to say: “Foul though I think in the build-up. That might have been a foul.”

It is fair to say that the decision in question by Lineker could have gone either way but as previous decisions had at Molineux, it went against the away side.

Rogers may have been fouled before the Wolves talisman doubled their lead but the game had already escaped Unai Emery’s men by that stage.

The Spanish head coach was visibly fuming but will have felt more hard done by with the previous offside decision from the officials and his side’s performance.

There were very few positives to take away from the Midlands Derby clash and unfortunately that can’t be pinned on a potential foul in the 97th minute.
