Aston Villa ‘confident’ in race to sign Man United forward Marcus Rashford

Aston Villa are said to be optimistic of their chances to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, according to Matteo Moretto.

Moretto, via his X account [1 February], reported that Villa are hopeful that they can finalise a deal for Rashford having opened talks with the forward [David Ornstein].

Following the departure of Jhon Duran, Villa are in need of a replacement and Rashford could be encouraged by the prospect of kickstarting his career elsewhere in England.

While there are many factors to consider, it could be a deal that happens before the deadline on 3 February.

Marcus Rashford could rejuvenate career at Aston Villa

Rashford has shown his quality throughout his time in English football but at Man United, he appears to have somewhat lost his way in recent years and a fresh start may be just what he needs.

On the flip side, Villa are in need of a quality replacement for Duran and this deal could be one that suits all parties if it were to happen.

His ability to play wide left or centrally would provide an upgrade on Duran in the sense of versatility while providing Villa with a forward with plenty of experience at the top level.

If a deal occurs, and if Villa can get Rashford back on track, it would be a remarkable piece of business and one that would surely boost their hopes of Champions League qualification.
