Sky Sports: Door opens for Aston Villa deal as Tomori transfer-listed
Aston Villa are still in with a chance of signing Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan after a development in Italy, according to Sky Sports.
It was reported (31 January) that Tomori was considered by Juventus but they have now turned their attentions elsewhere, opening the door once again for Villa, who have been interested in taking the former Chelsea man back to England from Serie A.
Tomori has played slightly more of late for Milan but over the course of the season has rarely been first-choice, raising the prospect of a comeback to the Premier League.
Presenter David Garrido delivered live on Sky Sports (31 January, 14:46): “Fikayo Tomori is of interest to Aston Villa.
“The Milan defender was wanted by Juventus but they decided to go for someone else, so he was taken off the market. Now he’s back on, the door’s opened again for a potential exit from San Siro.
“He’s not the only centre-back they’re interested in with Juan Foyth, Kevin Danso and Axel Disasi [also options].”
Aston Villa seek Fikayo Tomori to strengthen defence
Although Tyrone Mings’ injury sustained last week is not as serious as first feared according to Unai Emery (Aston Villa FC on X, 28 January), the Villans are still keen on adding to their defence.
They have already signed right-back Andres Garcia from Levante but having lost Diego Carlos, a centre-half upgrade is a priority at Villa Park.
Tomori knows English football and is a Three Lions international himself, and at 27 carries excellent pedigree and a very good age profile to the squad should he join.

The fact Milan are open to a deal makes it all the more tempting, and it looks now as if the sliding doors are aligning for Villa.
Emery however knows he and the board must act quickly if they are to secure a player with plenty of big-club experience listed on his CV, and someone who knows his way around contending with league football alongside European competition.
