Ollie Watkins exit: Arsenal make ‘stunning’ bid to sign Aston Villa ace
Aston Villa have rejected a “stunning” offer from Arsenal for Ollie Watkins ahead of the 3 February deadline, according to Sami Mokbel.
The Daily Mail journalist reported via the newspaper’s website (29 January) that despite the Gunners’ initial bid being rejected, an improved offer is “expected”.
The report adds that the Villans feel that they’re in a “strong” position to keep the Englishman at Villa Park despite Mikel Arteta being a “long-term admirer” of the 29-year-old.
Aston Villa cannot allow Ollie Watkins to exit Villa Park
Villa have had a lot of question marks around their strike force this season with the Villans having form in-form strikers at their disposal.
Watkins and Jhon Duran have been involved in a fight for the starting berth at Villa Park, with Emery flip-flopping between the two.
However, with Duran potentially on his way to Saudi Arabia in a big-money move, the last player that Villa need to lose is Watkins.
The Englishman has been on top form once again this season and it feels like they’d be taking a massive step backwards if they sanctioned his exit.

Only time will tell what the future holds but for now, they need to stand their ground and keep hold of the Englishman.
