Aston Villa v Celtic: McManaman reacts immediately to ‘Awful’ info he was told
Steve McManaman was left shocked after he found out that Aston Villa were 2-0 up in the first five minutes of their Champions League win against Celtic on Wednesday.
The Villans triumphed 4-2 over Brendan Rodgers’ men and seemed to be on the front foot for most of the fixture.
Speaking live on TNT Sports 3 (29 January), McManaman shared his thoughts on the Bhoys’ terrible start to their fixture at Villa Park.
“It’s an awful start for Brendan Rodgers and his men, 2-0 down in five minutes, wow,” he said.
Aston Villa could have done better against Celtic
Even though Unai Emery’s men left Villa Park with all three points to their name, it really was a clash that could have gone either way in a remarkable encounter.
But Villa, who are after all a Premier League side who are competing for a top-four spot once again in order to confirm their place in next season’s edition of the tournament, ultimately showed their quality on home turf.
Some players such as Morgan Rogers played to the best of his ability but there were a couple of nervy moments to endure at an electric Villa Park.

They should have capitalised on their early lead and added a couple of extra goals to their total rather than allowing the Bhoys to get back into the game.
With a top eight position now secured, Villa can rest up in the knowledge they have a direct passage to the last 16 of the competition.
