Aston Villa to secure ‘premium transfer fee’ with Jhon Duran ‘set for late exit’
Aston Villa will be looking to secure a premium transfer fee if they sell Jhon Duran before the 3 February deadline, Dan Plumley has said.
With West Ham bids of £57million batted away in January already, the Villans are said to want more as Saudi interest now grows (David Ornstein).
Al Nassr are said to be close to agreeing on a fee worth more than £58million, with Duran already accepting a contract proposal (L’Equipe).
Plumley, a football finance expert, admitted that Villa would not have wanted to sell directly to a Premier League rival, with a premium fee now possible.
“That’s the internal market conditions fully at play,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“There are two or three important factors to bring into it.
“One is the position of Villa themselves, with phenomenal results in the Champions League so far and may even still make the knockout stages directly.
“The performances of Duran, his stock is rising with the goals that he scores, putting himself in the spotlight.
“Villa are not going to want to sell to a rival if they can avoid it, and if you’re going to sell, you’re probably putting a premium on the transfer fee and playing hardball.
Jhon Duran to leave Aston Villa?
“I think those are three important factors within this and you can see how that has evolved from a player that may have moved for £40m in the summer and we’re now talking about double that.”

Duran was always going to be close to the exit before the February 3 deadline, with Unai Emery not finding room for him and Ollie Watkins at Villa Park.
The upside will be immense profit if the Colombian does move to Saudi Arabia, with no direct rivalry at play either moving forward.
This is one to watch in the coming days.
