Aston Villa reach agreement to terminate defender deal after injury blow

Aston Villa have recalled Yeimar Mosquera from his loan deal, Real Union Club have confirmed.

The Spanish side took the 19-year-old on loan in the summer, taking advantage of links to Unai Emery and the V Sports network.

The third-tier side have revealed that the Villans have ended the Colombian’s temporary deal to bring him back to Villa Park.

The centre-back won’t return to B6 until the end of the South American Under-20 Championship which is scheduled to end on 16 February.

It is fair to say that defensive reinforcements are needed for Villa right now, especially after Tyrone Mings was forced off against West Ham on Sunday (26 January).

This has caused added misery for Emery’s side who are also without Pau Torres and have parted ways with Diego Carlos in a January deal to Fenerbache.

Lucas Digne filled in at centre-back against the Hammers in a difficult evening for the French international in a move which is unlikely to be utilised again.

As a result, a move to recall the highly-rated Mosquera from Spain could prove to make sense as an option on the bench across the second half of the season.

It will certainly be interesting to see if the young Colombian is handed any minutes as the campaign moves on after being recalled.
