Tyrone Mings sends ‘Serious’ Aston Villa injury message after latest blow

Aston Villa star Tyrone Mings has reassured supporters that his latest injury blow is not “serious.”

The 31-year-old was taken off after 38 minutes in the 1-1 draw with West Ham at Villa Park on Sunday (26 January).

The England international had already gone down earlier in the contest before requesting a substitution as the half-time break approached.

However, Mings took to his Instagram story to calm worried fans down, saying: “I’ve had some serious injuries, this isn’t one of them. Thank you for all your messages.”

Mings reassurance is a relief for Aston Villa

The Englishman has struggled with injuries in recent years and there were fears that he was set for another significant spell on the sidelines.

That would have been catastrophic for Unai Emery, given the fact that the Midlands club has just sold Diego Carlos to Fenerbache and Pau Torres still being out.

The veteran had played the full 90 minutes in Villa’s last five matches after returning from a long-term injury.

If he was out for a significant period, Lamare Bogarde would be the most likely option to play alongside Ezri Konsa and the manager does not seem to trust the youngster.

Therefore, the update from Mings will be a massive relief for supporters and the manager as he does not seem set for a period off the pitch.

Emery will hope that he is fit and available for the crunch match with Celtic in the Champions League (29 January) where Villa could go straight through to the round of 16 with victory.
