Jamie Carragher wowed by ‘outstanding’ Aston Villa moment v West Ham
Jamie Carragher was left wowed by the “outstanding” touch that Aston Villa ace Jacob Ramsey had before he slotted the ball into the back of West Ham’s net.
The midfielder broke the deadlock for the Villans in their Premier League clash within the first 10 minutes of the game at Villa Park after Unai Emery’s men were all over the Hammers.
Ramsey received the ball on the edge of the box after being laid off by Ollie Watkins, he then made his way past a couple of defenders and netted his first strike of the game.
The Villans have been on top form this season and Carragher evidently believes that they were a different class than Graham Potter’s men after what he said about Ramsey’s goal.
“Really good football again, it’s gone right through West Ham look at Ramsey, Ollie Watkins the provider this time, the touch before his finish is absolutely outstanding,” he said.
“He just takes it away from the defender, Coufal and then he’s got the angle, it’s a fantastic finish in that far corner.”
Aston Villa need to keep up their form against West Ham
While things might not have gone exactly to plan for Villa this season, more often than not they’ve been a force to be reckoned with and have proven their worth to fans.
Emery has led his team to victories against teams such as Bayern Munich and if they can keep their form this level throughout the rest of the season, the race for the top four spots is certainly going to be spicy as we get into the latter stages of the campaign.
If Villa win they will be eighth in the top flight with just two points separating them from fourth-placed Manchester City.
The likes of Morgan Rogers and Jhon Duran are the players who have received the most plaudits this season but when called upon, Ramsey has also been a very effective player which has once again been proven after his opening striker for Villa.
Only time will tell if they can keep this up going into the second half but if they do, they should easily come away from Villa Park with all three points to their name.
