Aston Villa player ratings v West Ham United: Rogers flops, Kamara stars

Aston Villa and West Ham shared the spoils at Villa Park in the Premier League with the game ending 1-1 on Sunday.

Jacob Ramsey opened the scoring in the first half for the hosts and Emerson grabbed an equaliser in the second half for the visitors on 26 January.

The Hammers had three big chances in the game and were not clinical in front of goal.

Here are our Villa player ratings from the game:

Emi Martinez – 4

Put his side in added danger when he didn’t need to and also failed to prevent the header from going into the back of the net.

Matty Cash – 5

Had a bad game in terms of marking and left his man open which saw the hosts opening the scoring.

Ezri Konsa – 7

Tidy in possession and performed his defensive duties well right from the start until the end.

Tyrone Mings – 6

Faired decently for the 38 minutes he was on the pitch before he had to be withdrawn due to an injury.

Lucas Digne – 5

Started at left-back but then moved to centre-back where his defensive frailties were exposed and he was fortunate to not give away a penalty.

Youri Tielemans – 6

Kept things ticking in the middle of the park and went about his role no questions asked.

Boubacar Kamara – 8

Another Man of the Match performance for the midfielder in the middle of the park for the Villans as he bossed proceedings from start to end.

Leon Bailey – 4

Was erratic with his passing and did little to justify Emery’s decision to start him on Sunday.

Morgan Rogers – 4

A rare bad game from Rogers but he failed to make anything happen in the final third and kept getting bullied on and off the ball.

Jacob Ramsey – 8

Looked lively in the final third and managed to find the back of the net as well.

Ollie Watkins – 7

Kept moving around in order to make things happen and got an assist to his name.

Subs

Ian Maatsen – 3

Struggled off the bench as he lost all his ground duels and was wayward with his crossing.

Donyell Malen – 4

Managed to complete just two passes in the 25 minutes he was on the pitch as he struggled to get involved in proceedings.

Jhon Duran – 5

Tried to make something happen and work his magic off the bench but was unsuccessful.

Emi Buendia – 4

Was a passenger after coming off the bench as he made little to no impact.

John McGinn – 4

Much like McGinn, was ineffective in his cameo role and made a few needless decisions.
