Aston Villa star Amadou Onana sends two-word message as West Brom deal agreed

Aston Villa midfielder Amadou Onana has welcomed Isaac Price back to England after he signed for West Brom.

The pair played together during the 2022-23 season as they were both at Everton for that period.

The Baggies announced the signing of Price on Wednesday (22 January) as he returns to England to join the club from Standard Liege in Belgium.

After the announcement was posted on Instagram, Onana took to the comments to congratulate his former teammate, writing: “Welcome back.”

Amadou Onana looking to push on with Aston Villa

Since arriving at Villa Park in the summer, Onana has managed to get himself into Unai Emery’s team and has 16 Premier League and three Champions League appearances to show for it, with three goals across the two competitions.

However, after having picked up an injury against Arsenal, it looks as though the midfielder is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks which will be a blow to his side as they look to juggle their fixtures at a busy period.

The Villans are in a good place in the top flight this term although their local rivals are pushing for a play-off spot in the Championship which, if achieved, could see the two sides reunite in the top flight sooner rather than later.

Nevertheless, Emery and his side will certainly be thinking more about their European football adventures this term and looking to get a good finish in the Premier League this term to maintain the progress they are making on the pitch.

It was a nice touch of the Villa midfielder to welcome back his former teammate, who has taken a different route than he has since leaving Goodison Park. However, if the two local sides meet, you would hope to see him being less gracious on the pitch.

In other Aston Villa news, the club is set to offer Louie Barry a contract amid interest in the young star from Celtic.
