Aston Villa in pole position to land next new signing as negotiations start
Aston Villa are in pole position to sign Andres Garcia from Levante, according to Relevo.
The Spanish outlet reported on 17 January that the Villans have entered negotiations “with force” to sign the right-back this winter.
After Monchi and Damian Vidagany went to Spain to watch the 21-year-old, the B6 club have placed themselves in pole position to sign the Spaniard.
This could see Villa bring the Levante man to the West Midlands ahead of Sporting who have already tabled an official proposal to the LaLiga2 side.
Aston Villa in pole position for Andres Garcia
It is fair to say that a right-back has been needed at Villa Park for a while with Matty Cash being the only recognised option available to Unai Emery.
Ezri Konsa has been utilised as a full-back on many occasions but there is no doubt that he is a much better centre-back, aruably the best under the Spaniard.
As a result, bringing in Garcia could be the boost that the Villans need moving forward as the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup hots up as the season goes on.
The young defender has scored three and assisted three league goals so far this season and his influence could be useful as an alternative to his Polish counterpart.
In other Aston Villa news, the pursuit of Fikayo Tomori has begun as a loan-to-buy offer has been submitted.
