Aston Villa ‘approach Chelsea’ over £38m player after Malen deal
Aston Villa have made an approach to Chelsea to sign French defender Axel Disasi this winter, according to TBR.
The online outlet reports [16 January] that Villa want to sign Disasi, who cost Chelsea in excess of £38million [Sky Sports], which in turn could open the door for Diego Carlos to depart soon
The Frenchman has struggled for game time under Enzo Maresca and Chelsea are understood to be keen to offload him.
Juventus have also shown an interest in the centre-back, who appears likely to leave Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks.
Axel Disasi to join Aston Villa from Chelsea?
Given the uncertainty of Carlos’ future as well, as the injuries sustained by Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings, a centre-back arrival seems appropriate for Villa.
Disasi, albeit having struggled to feature for Chelsea, would add a different dimension in defence with his height and physical prowess.
At 26 years old, the Frenchman still has the ability to develop his game even further and with the likelihood of regular first-team football at Villa Park, it could be the perfect opportunity.

Villa have every chance of achieving Champions League qualification this season once again, but those hopes could hinge on their ability to secure some further reinforcements this month.
With Donyell Malen already through the door, they have outlined their ambitions and Disasi would align with that if they can muster up a deal.
