Celtic want Aston Villa transfer agreement for attacker

Celtic are interested in Aston Villa attacker Louie Barry in the winter transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports in its print edition (14 January, pg 73) that the Scottish Premiership outfit want the 21-year-old on loan from the Villans.

While the Hoops are looking for an agreement, the Lions already have their full quota of foreign loans out and can’t send the winger to Scotland for the time being.

Aston Villa should have kept Louie Barry at Stockport

While the Birmingham club had their reasons for recalling Barry from Stockport, he was thriving in League One.

The 21-year-old made 23 appearances in the third tier of English football, scoring 15 goals and providing three assists.

For the English attacker’s sake, hopefully, the Villans can find the right destination for him before the 3 February deadline.

Donyell Malen could soon become a Villa player, with the Dutch attacker providing Unai Emery with much-needed options up front.

The Borussia Dortmund forward is capable of playing anywhere in the front line, and his versatility will be an added asset for the Spanish manager.

Barry doesn’t seem likely to get regular minutes at Villa Park for the foreseeable future, but it remains to be seen whether he’ll be sent on loan or sold.

While the 21-year-old has shown a lot of potential, the Lions could arguably do with the potential fee they could get for him and fill their coffers.

Celtic are one of the biggest teams in Scotland and the young English winger could develop further at Parkhead.
