Robin Olsen has ‘perfect’ Aston Villa exit route ready as transfer talks underway
Robin Olsen could seal a move away from Aston Villa during the January transfer window.
As reported by Tipsbladet (8 January), Aston Villa have opened talks with FC Copenhagen over a deal for Olsen.
There has been speculation previously that the goalkeeper could leave the club for free in January. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the 35-year-old move on from Villa.
And ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes a move to Denmark could be “perfect” for Olsen.
“Copenhagen are a big club in the Scandinavian region,” King said.
“They’re a good club with a big following. Moving to Copenhagen or Malmö would be perfect for Olsen.
“I would think a move there would interest Olsen an awful lot as he comes from that area. He could probably live in Sweden and play for Copenhagen. That would be a nice solution for him.”
Robin Olsen to quit Aston Villa in January and sign for FC Copenhagen?
It is clear that Olsen has no future at Villa Park. Therefore, for everybody involved, sorting out his future in January would be the ideal solution, rather than waiting until the summer.
Whether or not a deal is agreed with Copenhagen remains to be seen. However, one way or another it looks as though the shot-stopper will end up leaving Villa this month.
And Unai Emery will hope the funds raised – either in terms of a potential fee or from simply just getting Olsen’s wages off the books – could be put toward a new signing, with the club ready to trigger the release clause of a La Liga star [via Mundo Deportivo, 10 January].

However, first and foremost, a deal must be agreed to move Olsen on.
