Emery exit: Aston Villa boss contender for Tottenham amid Postecoglou sack news
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery could be a contender for the Tottenham job, according to the latest bookmaker odds.
Ange Postecoglou’s days as Spurs manager are starting to feel like they are numbered due to the recent poor form his team have been in.
Emery has been doing an impressive job as Villa boss over the last couple of seasons with the Spaniard now coming in at 12/1 to take over from the former Celtic boss (Bet Victor).
Aston Villa cannot afford to let Unai Emery leave for Tottenham
It feels like Emery would be taking a step back if he made the switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, especially given the upward trajectory he has his Villa side on.
At the moment, the Villans are eighth in the Premier League table with 32 points to their name, just four off fourth, while Spurs are 12th with just 24.
It feels like Tottenham are on a downward trajectory at the moment whereas Villa are only just getting started.

They’ve had a solid few opening games in their Champions League run and could easily make their way into the top four of the Premier League as only four points separate them from fourth-placed Chelsea.
Of course, money talks and Emery could well be tempted but if he does end up taking over the Australian’s role, it feels like he’d be hindering his progress as a manager, which is likely the exact opposite of what he’d want to do.
