Aston Villa ready new transfer as £10m exit now on the cards

Diego Carlos is closing in on a £10million exit from Aston Villa to Fenerbahce as Villa look to bring in a new defender, according to Simon Jones.

Writing in the print version of The Daily Mail (9 January, page 69), Jones reported that the defender is edging closer to a £10m departure to Turkey.

Meanwhile, the Villans have been offered Milan Skriniar of Paris Saint-Germain to bolster their defensive options in the second half of the season.

Milan Skriniar set to replace Diego Carlos at Aston Villa

Carlos has made 10 Premier League appearances for Villa so far this term so it’s not a surprise to see Fenerbahce want to take him off their hands as Jose Mourinho looks to add to his defensive ranks.

Furthermore, a fee of £10m for the 31-year-old who is out of contract in 2026 isn’t a bad offer for the West Midlands club who will need to be forward-thinking in their transfer plans.

Given the Villans are still in the Champions League, Unai Emery has to make sure he has the squad depth available to him to be able to continue juggling a mix of European and domestic football in the New Year.

However, if a deal can be struck for Skriniar to make the move from PSG then this could settle any qualms about losing a defensive option.

Though the 29-year-old has made five Ligue 1 appearances so far this term, the defender is no stranger to handling plenty of games throughout a season which is exactly what Villa need.
