Ross Barkley learns Aston Villa fate as injury update shared after Leicester win
Ross Barkley could now start regularly for Aston Villa as an injury update has been shared after the 2-1 win against Leicester City.
The Englishman came into the starting fold at Villa Park on Saturday (4 January) and got on the scoresheet to help secure three points.
This was the 31-year-old’s third Premier League start of the season and was his third goal which is an impressive record.
The midfielder could now be in line to become a regular starter in the coming weeks after Unai Emery shared a damming injury update after the win over the Foxes.
Ross Barkley could start more for Aston Villa after Leicester update
The Spaniard has revealed, reported by John Townley on X, that John McGinn could be out for up to five weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury in B6.
This will certainly leave a hole in the Villans’ squad given how much the captain adds both going forward and with his defensive contribution.
Given that the likes of Pau Torres and Diego Carlos are already out through injury, this is another frustrating blow at Villa Park.
Emery may have the ideal replacement for the Scotland international in Barkley who showed his quality throughout the clash against the Foxes.
His ability to get on the ball and drive forward while also having an eye for a killer pass and a goal, there is plenty of good to speak of when it comes to the ex-Chelsea man.
Villa fans will wait in the hope that McGinn will return sooner than expected but there are positive options in the squad to fill his void.
