Aston Villa player ‘gutted’ as Villa Park exit now confirmed

Lewis Dobbin revealed he is “gutted” to leave West Brom before joining Norwich City on loan from Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old joined the Baggies on loan from B6 in the summer but is fair to say it was a failed move for all parties.

The versatile forward departed The Hawthorns to return to Villa Park, before completing a new loan move with the Canaries until the end of the season, as confirmed by Villa on Friday (3 January).

Waving goodbye to Albion on X (3 January), the Englishman said: “Gutted it didn’t work out the way I hoped but a period to learn and grow from.”

Aston Villa loanee Lewis Dobbin swaps West Brom for Norwich City

The Villans have been forced to be creative in the transfer market to make it possible to make signings that improve Unai Emery’s side.

This was completely evident during the summer transfer window as many strange deals were made with both incoming and outgoing transfers from B6.

One of those deals saw Tim Iroegbunam depart for Everton, while Villa brought Dobbin in before almost immediately sending him out on loan.

This has proved to be damaging for the former Derby County loanee, who has struggled for regular minutes and performance level since moving.

There will be hope that the winger can make an impact now he has made a fresh switch to Norwich, who are looking to mount a Championship playoff push.

It is unclear how much game time the ex-Toffees youngster will be able to demand with the Canaries, but the move will hopefully be more successful than his spell with the Baggies.
