Aston Villa to use V Sports link as transfer negotiations underway

Aston Villa have entered negotiations to sign Taisei Miyashiro from Vissel Kobe in January, according to Marco Molla.

The Japan-based journalist, who first broke the news that Celtic wanted to sign Daizen Maeda in 2022, reported on 2 January that the Villans are looking to complete a transfer for the versatile forward this winter.

The J.League side have requested replacement players from Villa as both sides look to utilise links of the V Sports network.

Aston Villa eye January transfer for Taisei Miyashiro

The 24-year-old had a superb 2024 as he netted 18 goals for Vissel Kobe in all competitions, playing across multiple positions.

Across his six years as a professional, the former Japan Under-20 international has played for six different clubs with his latest move resulting in his best goal output.

This has piqued the interest of the Villans who could add some attacking reinforcements to their squad ahead of the second half of the season.

Although a link to a star from the J.League may come out of the blue, it should be expected given the links between the two clubs.

Villa sealed a partnership with the Japanese giants in October 2023 to join the V Sports global network of clubs alongside ZED FC and Vitória Sport Clube [avfc.co.uk].

Unai Emery could be set to utilise this network for the first time by bringing Miyashiro in from Japan in what may prove to be a risk-free signing in B6 during the January transfer window.
