Aston Villa forward deal terminated already

West Brom boss Chris Brunt has confirmed that the loan deal of Aston Villa ace Lewis Dobbin has already been terminated.

This was reported by Steve Hermon via his personal X account (1 January) who shared that Brunt confirmed that the the attacker had already been called back by the Villans after making just one start in the Championship since the summer.

The journalist added that the deal was a “disappointing” one for all those who were involved.

“Chris Brunt confirms to me that #AVFC have recalled Lewis Dobbin from his loan spell with #WBA. It ends with just 1 league start and not much else to show for it. A disappointing deal for all parties,” he wrote.

What’s next for Aston Villa attacker Lewis Dobbin?

Although Dobbin was only brought through the Villa Park doors in the summer, it feels like there’s not much of an idea about where his future could end up.

The attacker made the switch from Everton in the last transfer window and was almost instantly sent out on loan to master his craft.

Instead, the youngster has spent most of his time sitting on the bench and hardly having any impact during his time at the Hawthorns.

No concrete rumours have been shared about where his future may lie but it feels like he almost certainly has to get another loan move to try and prove his worth to Unai Emery.

Otherwise, by the time the end of the 2024/25 season comes around, the 21-year-old could be put onto the chopping block as one of the many deals Villa will likely sanction in the summer.

Only time will tell what Dobbin’s future holds but one thing is for sure, he’ll need to be in far better form than he was at West Brom wherever he ends up.
