Ally McCoist blasts Matty Cash after what he did in Aston Villa win v Man City
Ally McCoist was frustrated with Matty Cash after he refused to set up Boubacar Kamara for a tap in as Aston Villa beat Manchester City 2-1 at Villa Park on Saturday.
Villa were leading 1-0 in their Premier League clash with the reigning champions on 21 December when Cash had a sight of goal and hit the side netting, although Kamara was waiting in front of the goal.
McCoist, who noted a tussle between Kyle Walker and Jhon Duran, hit out at the Poland international for not whipping the ball across for the awaiting midfielder instead.
“He’s got to find Kamara, there’s a bit of action down here”, McCoist said live on TNT Sports (21 December, 1:39 pm).
“He’s got to find Kamara, he’s got to whip that across. There’s a bit of action on the right-hand side involving Duran and Walker.
“Surely he just got to whip, Kamara has got a tap in, but what a break.”
Unai Emery call backfires as Matty Cash troubled by Jack Grealish in Aston Villa v Manchester City
Cash remains Aston Villa’s first-choice right-back, but with Ezri Konsa playing in that position on occasion, Unai Emery had a decision to make ahead of kick-off.
The Spanish tactician stuck with the 27-year-old, who struggled to cope with Jack Grealish’s threat down City’s left-hand side.
Grealish, who was often booed by the Villa Park supporters, therefore became one of Pep Guardiola’s only threats in the game.
Nevertheless, it did not mean much in the larger scheme of things as the Birmingham-based club claimed all three points and added to the Manchester outfit’s woes.
Guardiola and co have won only one of their last 12 games across all competitions.

Villa, meanwhile, appear to have put a poor run of form behind them, having won four of their last four matches.
Saturday’s result saw them move above Manchester City in the table as the season approaches the midway point.
In other Aston Villa news, Unai Emery has been urged to sign this Championship star to bolster his midfield.
