Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa deal on the cards after what Roy Keane has said

Aston Villa could offer Marcus Rashford a way out of Manchester United.

The 27-year-old was excluded from United’s matchday squad for the 2-1 win against Manchester City on Sunday [15 December], sparking fresh concerns that his days at Man United are over.

Villa were touted to launch a bid to pry the forward from Old Trafford in October [El Nacional], and despite concerns regarding whether Rashford would fit in at Villa Park, it appears he will be available in the January transfer window.

Roy Keane spoke on Rashford’s future live on Sky Sports Football [15 December] after the win against Manchester City, and the ex-Manchester United captain believes his exclusion is the beginning of the end.

He said: “It might be the end for him. Let’s not be writing him off – he’s just been left out of this squad, but it doesn’t look good for him.

“I think ultimately, there’s been talk over the last few months… I feel probably a move for Marcus definitely would suit the player, a new challenge for him.

“He’s been at the club a long time; he’s done well for the club but over the last year or two whatever about talent at a big club if your attitude is not quite right and his certainly hasn’t been great recently. Sometimes I think it is good to part ways.”

Marcus Rashford would be a statement signing for Aston Villa

While Unai Emery boasts Ollie Watkins, Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers in his attacking ranks, he still needs the final piece of the puzzle to propel Aston Villa to new heights.

The Villans have not long ended an eight-match winless streak across all competitions with three back-to-back victories, but progress has been halted once again after a 93rd-minute Anthony Elanga goal secured a 2-1 win for Nottingham Forest on Saturday [14 December].

Rashford could complete one of the most devastating attacking lines in the Premier League, and Monchi should do everything he can to bring the forward to Villa Park.

One look at his 2022/23 campaign should be reason enough to sanction the move – Rashford contributed 30 goals and nine assists across all competitions to secure a third-place Premier League finish for Manchester United.

Quality does not disappear overnight; the Red Devils have struggled throughout the season and are adjusting to a new regime after Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag.

With significantly less pressure to succeed than in Manchester, a move to Birmingham could be what Rashford needs to rediscover his Manchester United Player of the Year form.

Aston Villa are in desperate need of more firepower, and Rashford has it in abundance – Monchi could seal an almighty deal for the Villans.
