Lineker reacts as ‘Incredible’ Martinez footage emerges for Aston Villa v Forest

Gary Lineker was left stunned by Emi Martinez after his world-class save for Aston Villa against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Villans fell to their first defeat in three games on 14 December as two late goals cancelled out Jhon Duran’s header.

Despite coming away from the City Ground with no points, a moment of genius from the Argentina international caught the eye.

Lineker picked out the 32-year-old on Match of the Day as he said: “I think it’s one of the greatest saves I think I’ve ever seen.

“Incredible.”

The ex-Arsenal man just never ceases to amaze supporters with his ability to make crazy saves that he has no right to make.

This was certainly the case against Forest as the two-time Yashin Trophy winner managed to shovel the ball off the line in the most spectacular fashion.

Although this ultimately was for nothing, the Argentine still performed at a high level once again and can be frustrated with the result.

Martinez also made his presence felt as he contributed with one high claim and seven recoveries while also completing four throws.

As always, the World’s Number One was positive with the ball at his feet and helped to carry out Unai Emery’s game plan.

This saw the keeper clock up 32 passes with a 97 per cent accuracy while also completing five long passes out of six attempts at the City Ground.

It will be greatly frustrating to Villa’s number 23 that he made an error leading to a goal but certainly made up for that with one of the best saves most have ever seen.
