Sheffield United eye Louie Barry deal with Aston Villa after Middlesbrough twist

Sheffield United are the latest side to eye a move for Aston Villa youngster Louie Barry, according to TEAMtalk.

The online outlet reports [10 December] that Villa want Barry, who has excelled inn England’s third division with Stockport County, to play at a higher level for the second half of the season.

Sheffield United are one of several clubs to have expressed an interest in his services, although it is understood that Middlesbrough hold the upper hand having already held talks with Villa over his loan capture.

Championship loan would benefit Louie Barry and Aston Villa

Barry has been in exceptional form for Stockport County and has been the catalyst behind a successful campaign to date with them sitting fifth in League One.

The 21-year-old has registered a remarkable 14 goals in 19 league appearances and has gone from strength to strength throughout his time at the club.

A loan switch to Derby County has also been suggested as a possibility by Alan Nixon, but if Barry can seal a switch to a promotion-chasing side, it will do his development the world of good.

Not only will it better Barry as a player, it will give a clear indication as to how close he actually is to being able to have an impact at Villa Park ahead of the new season.

If the 21-year-old can thrive in the Championship, Unai Emery may have a huge decision to make in the summer regarding his future inclusion ahead of what will hopefully be another European season for the Villans.
