Deeney shares Emery stance as Aston Villa transfer for Marcus Rashford mooted
Troy Deeney doesn’t believe Unai Emery would put up with Marcus Rashford at Aston Villa if he were to leave Manchester United.
The Villans currently occupy sixth place in the Premier League and are just two points shy of getting back into the top four spots thanks to their recent victory over Southampton.
Their form over the course of the season, however, has been fairly mixed with Emery’s men beating the likes of Bayern Munich but then losing to teams such as Crystal Palace.
Speaking about where the future of Marcus Rashford could lie while live on talkSPORT (11 December, 17:15pm), former Birmingham City striker Deeney shared why he doesn’t think Emery would take him at Villa Park.
“I just don’t think he [Rashford] fits in anyone’s environment,” he said. “I don’t think Arsenal would take him and go ‘we’re going to put up with your nonsense’ and I don’t think he would go there and fall back in line, he’s been pandered to for too long.
He was then asked whether Marcus Rashford would fit in at Aston Villa: “No, [Unai] Emery isn’t putting up with him, he said.”
Aston Villa don’t need to sign Marcus Rashford
While the Villans likely haven’t reached the level they’d have liked to yet this season, one area of their squad that has exceeded expectations is that of their attack.
The trio of Ollie Watkins, Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers have been among some of the top performers in the Premier League and each player has had their say on the way Villa’s season has gone thus far.
While Duran is more often than not the one chosen to be on the bench, when he’s brought on as an impact substitute, there’s been no match for him which means, there’s no real need for Emery to add another attacker to the mix.

Indeed, Rashford would more than likely be used on the left wing, but with Emi Buendia, Jaden Philogene and Leon Bailey also occupying those roles among others, Villa are fairly stacked.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Rashford but, at the moment, he looks set to stay with the Red Devils.
