Deeney in £80m Duran admission at Aston Villa amid Man United transfer update
Troy Deeney has suggested how much Aston Villa could demand from Manchester United to sign Jhon Duran.
The Colombia international is hot property in B6 right now, especially after scoring in the Champions League against RB Leipzig on Tuesday (10 December).
This was the 20-year-old’s second goal of the week after also scoring the winner against Southampton in his first Premier League start of the season.
This has led many to question whether the youngster would leave if he doesn’t start ahead of Ollie Watkins in the coming weeks.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (11 December), Andy Goldstein questioned how much a club like the Red Devils would have to pay if Duran wanted to leave.
He said: “Do you think he could be a target for other clubs looking for a striker? For argument’s sake, we’re going to talk Manchester United, they might be getting money in for Marcus Rashford if he were to leave.
“Do you think a player like him would do well at a club like Man United and how much would he go for?”
Deeney replied: “He was close to going to West Ham for £35m so they’re probably going to argue that’s doubled now, I would say. Anywhere between £70m and £80m, I think he’s really good.”
Jhon Duran could leave Aston Villa for Manchester United for £80m
It is unclear how much the Villans could realistically charge for the ex-Chicago Fire man given how untested he is from the start of games this season.
The Colombian has been nothing short of a super-sub in B6 with six of his nine goals this campaign coming as a substitute.
With that being said, Duran has netted in his last three starts which does beg the question of why Unai Emery doesn’t start him more regularly.
If the Spaniard doesn’t start to show faith in the young forward, there is a chance that he will grow impatient and seek a move away from the West Midlands.
There is no doubt that Manchester United would represent an attractive prospect, regardless of their issues on and off the pitch in recent seasons.

If the Red Devils were to make a bid, Monchi and Co. would be free to drive a hard bargain after the striker signed a new contract earlier in the season.
This could see Villa bring in a large fee or easily keep hold of one of their brightest talents and turn away any interested parties.
