Sherwood wowed by ‘Brilliant’ Jhon Duran after Aston Villa moment v RB Leipzig
Tim Sherwood was stunned by Jhon Duran after he scored a long-range goal to put Aston Villa in front against RB Leipzig.
The Villans went ahead within three minutes at the Red Bull Arena through John McGinn before Lois Openda made the most of an Emi Martinez error to equalise.
With the score at 1-1, Unai Emery made a change with a view to changing the game in his side’s favour and it worked as the Colombia international scored seven minutes into the second half.
The 20-year-old’s effort from range looped over Peter Gulasci which left Sherwood impressed live on Sky Sports News (10 December).
He said: “He is brilliant with his hold-up play. Picture book goal. I’m thinking ‘Knock it past the defender’ but he waits for him to come back.
“He’s hit it 35-yards-out, he’s bent it. It goes over the goalkeeper, he doesn’t expect a shot. Duran has scored, 2-1, brilliant.”

The super sub just continues to amaze for the Villans this season, proving once again that he knows how to score goals at the highest level.
The ex-Chicago Fire starlet scored his third goal of his debut campaign in the Champions League and proved why he should be starting ahead of Ollie Watkins.
The England international struggled in the first half and despite having the ball in the net, was caught offside in a frustrating moment.
This prompted Emery to make a change which was inspired and ultimately changed the game in his side’s favour.
The 20-year-old’s strike from range was superb and just summed up how he goes about his game, he plays with a freedom which is unlike almost anyone else in the Villa squad.
Although Ross Barkley scored the winner and may end up taking some of the plaudits, fans won’t forget the difference that Duran made and how good his performance was against the Bundesliga side.
