Milos Kerkez bidding war could break out amid Aston Villa transfer reveal
Bryan King has suggested that a bidding war could break out for Aston Villa target Milos Kerkez.
The ex-Villa scout doesn’t think the left-back is worth much more than £20million, with the Bournemouth man not the only defender the club are interested in signing ahead of January.
However, according to Caught Offside [1 December], Bournemouth value Kerkez, who is open to a move in January, at £40million, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham all interested, as well as Aston Villa, amid Lucas Digne’s recent struggles.
Therefore, King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – has speculated that this interest could drive the 21-year-old’s value up.
“Bournemouth only signed Kerkez for £15million last year,” King said.
“After one year they want another £25million for him? I can’t see anybody paying that, I don’t think Villa should pay that kind of money. He has only been in the Premier League for a year. He has done well, but I don’t think anybody should be spending any more than £20million on the player at this point.
“For £40million you would have wanted him to be performing at this level for a lot longer. However, if you have got multiple clubs looking at him, then a bidding war could break out, which would drive his price up and perhaps make it difficult for Villa to sign him.”
Aston Villa to miss out on Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez?
With the number of top clubs interested in Kerkez, Unai Emery’s side could struggle to win the race for his signature. However, fans will be happy to see the club linked with this type of promising player.
Villa are beginning to turn things around after their recent dip in form, with one player being described as “phenomenal” after the 3-1 Premier League win over Brentford at Villa Park on Wednesday [4 December].

However, they still have a long way to go, and some additions could be useful. Therefore, if the club do miss out on Kerkez, Emery will likely still want another player signed.
