Aston Villa told to strike rapid-fire £24m Fikayo Tomori deal as news emerges

Bryan King has urged Aston Villa to “act fast” if they want to sign AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.

The ex-Villa scout believes the centre-back “could certainly be of interest” in the West Midlands.

As reported by CalcioMercato [30 November], Aston Villa are monitoring Tomori with AC Milan preparing for a January sale. The Serie A side would be willing to sanction a transfer “for something less” than the £24million reported valuation in the summer.

Newcastle and West Ham United are also interested in Tomori.

Therefore, King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes Unai Emery’s side will need to act urgently if they want to secure the services of the 26-year-old.

“They seem to be having problems at the back,” King said.

“Especially over the past couple of months. Particularly against Chelsea, they looked very vulnerable at the back.

“Therefore, Tomori could certainly be a player of interest. However, if Villa want to sign him, they will need to act first, which means they need to act fast.”

Aston Villa to sign AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori?

Villa got back to winning ways on Wednesday [4 December], beating Brentford 3-1 in the Premier League at Villa Park. However, considering they were without a win in eight matches before this, it is clear that Emery still has a lot of work to do.

The defensive depth at Villa Park isn’t exactly outstanding, with Diego Carlos expected to move on.

As a result, a new centre-back would be a big boost for Emery. Therefore, if Tomori is available for a cut-price fee, it would make sense for the Villans to move for him.

The Englishman hasn’t been a regular for AC Milan this season. However, he has plenty of experience in Italy and previous experience in English football and has even represented the Three Lions at senior level.

Therefore, a fresh start could be exactly what he needs, with plenty of time ahead of him in his career.

And if he is available for a fee around the £20million price mark, that could be a risk worth taking for Villa.
