Aston Villa can strike Juventus loan agreement as transfer news emerges
Juventus are willing to sanction a January sale for Aston Villa target Nicolo Fagioli, TBR Football reports.
According to the news outlet’s website [6 December], the Old Lady are open to a loan deal for Fagioli with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour under Thiago Motta in Turin, alerting the interest of Unai Emery, but the Villans will face stiff competition for his signature with Premier League clubs circling ahead of the January transfer window.
Aston Villa face a fight to secure the signing of Nicolo Fagioli
Manchester City, Tottenham, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Fulham are among the Premier League sides monitoring Fagioli’s situation at Juventus.
The Italian international will have his pick of the litter when deciding where to play his football for the second half of the campaign, and Monchi must do everything in his power to convince the midfielder that his future lies in the Midlands.
Fagioli has suffered a fall from grace in Italy – he was nominated Serie A’s Young Player of the Year in 2023 and now finds himself on the chopping block 18 months later but his quality remains undeniable.
He was the only shining light for Juventus in a disappointing domestic campaign wherein they finished in seventh place, eight points adrift of the Champions League spots, scoring three goals with four assists in 26 Serie A outings.

However, he featured only eight times last term as he served a seven-month suspension for breaching betting regulations in Italy and has since been left out in the cold at Juventus, but he could rediscover his form for Aston Villa.
Emery is eager to bolster his midfield ranks in January with Amadou Onana suffering injury woes in his maiden year at Villa Park; the Birmingham outfit has since only just returned to winning ways after the 3-1 win against Brentford on Wednesday [4 December] after a eight-match winless run.
While countless names are being linked with a move to the Villans, it appears the profile and desired target for the midfield has yet to be determined, but one way or another, a new name will be arriving through the door at Villa Park when the window opens.
Given his unflattering disciplinary record, whether or not Fagioli will be the desired target remains to be seen.
