Collymore explodes as new Aston Villa controversy footage emerges – ‘Disgrace’

Stan Collymore was exploded after Jesus Gil Manzano disallowed a late Aston Villa goal in their 0-0 draw with Juventus in the Champions League.

With the Villa Park clash just seconds away from finishing, Morgan Rogers prodded the ball into the net after Juve goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio dropped the ball under pressure from Diego Carlos.

However, Manzano adjudged Carlos to have fouled the Italian goalkeeper, ruling out Rogers’ last-gasp strike and saving Juventus a point.

Writing on X after the game on Wednesday night (27 November), Collymore called the decision an “absolute [expletive] disgrace”, before adding: “Second half more thrust, more adventure and a last gasp goal that should have stood. Foul on keeper given which was soft as you like.”

Aston Villa fans think they’ve been robbed

Manzano had a terrible match at Villa Park.

All throughout the game he was getting decisions wrong, booking players for next to nothing and ruining what should have been a spectacle.

Take away the incidents and that was a very entertaining game considering it was goalless.

But that, at the end, was shocking.

Goalkeepers get a stupid amount of protection from referees, who are too easy to fool if they just fall to the floor and roll around a bit.

Michael Dawson said on Sky Sports News that Di Gregorio was rolling around in embarrassment and not because he was injured – which is partly correct.

He was rolling around to dupe the referee into thinking he’d been fouled by Carlos, who just jumped up in the air alongside the Juve ‘keeper.

There’s no way that was a foul.
